What Calvià is like

Calvià is the municipality that covers most of the Southwest coast, from Illetes on the edge of Palma to Peguera in the west. It contains some of the island’s best-known addresses, including Bendinat, Puerto Portals and Santa Ponsa, as well as its busiest resort, Magaluf. The town hall is in the small inland village of Calvià Vila.

Calvià is less a single place than a string of very different neighbourhoods along a 50-kilometre coastline. A five-minute drive can take you from the quiet villas of Bendinat to the nightlife of Magaluf, then on to the family streets of Santa Ponsa. Choosing the right part of Calvià matters far more than choosing Calvià itself.

The municipality has a large foreign population, and many residents live here all year. Services in English and German are easy to find.

Calvià has the widest range of property in the Southwest: holiday apartments in Palmanova and Magaluf, family villas in Santa Ponsa and Nova Santa Ponsa, frontline homes in Illetes and Costa d’en Blanes, and some of the island’s most valuable estates in Bendinat.
