Living here

Cas Concos, in full Cas Concos des Cavaller, is a country village in the municipality of Felanitx, about 7 km south of Felanitx town on the road to Santanyí. About 1,000 people are registered here. It has a primary school, a pharmacy and a weekly market. With Felanitx 10 minutes away and the beaches around Cala d’Or about 20, it makes a practical country base.

The name goes back to the Obrador family, nicknamed Conco, who owned land here in the 16th century, while des Cavaller recalls the knight’s holding (cavalleria) of La Galera that the land once formed. Houses gathered around an oratory built in 1722, and the village grew mainly in the 19th century. A street plan was approved in 1883, the Sisters of Charity opened a small convent in 1893, and the church of the Immaculate Conception became a parish in 1934. The present church was blessed in 1943.

The village covers the basics. CEIP Migjorn, the state primary school, opened as a rural school in 1934 and stayed open in the 1970s, when most rural schools were closed, and the Sa Miloca nursery shares its site on the Santanyí road. There is a pharmacy, a street market on Wednesdays and a public health unit that opens on only some weekdays. For bigger shopping, secondary school and out-of-hours care, people drive to Felanitx, about 10 minutes north.

The festes honour the patron saint, Sant Nicolau de Tolentí, on 10 September. The countryside around is good for walking, and the municipality’s routes from the village include an 8 km circular walk to Es Rossells, a Talayotic settlement, and a route to the Consolació hermitage and S’Alqueria Blanca. The medieval clifftop castle of Santueri, a listed monument, lies a few kilometres to the east. The nearest beaches are around Cala d’Or, about 20 minutes by car, and Portocolom is about 25.

Who buys here

The main appeal is a quiet rural base that keeps everyday services close: a primary school and nursery, a pharmacy and a weekly market in the village, Felanitx’s shops, health centre and secondary school about 10 minutes away, and the south-east coast within about 20 minutes. Families with young children are well placed until secondary school. Almost everything beyond the village basics needs a car.

Property

The village is compact, with the parish church at its centre and the Ma-14 Felanitx to Santanyí road running through it. It grew mostly in the 19th century, and its street layout goes back to a plan approved in 1883, with an extension scheme drawn up in 1941. Beyond the last houses is open farmland with country houses (fincas) and horse-breeding farms, and the neighbouring hamlet of Es Carritxó a short way east. On a country property, get a lawyer to verify that every building and extension has the right permits and is registered.

Questions buyers ask

Is Cas Concos part of Felanitx?

It is. Cas Concos is one of Felanitx’s villages, and the town hall is in Felanitx town, about 7 km north. With 1,013 registered residents in 2025, it is the fourth-largest place in the municipality after Felanitx town, Portocolom and S’Horta.

What healthcare is there?

A public health unit on Carrer 31 d’Agost opens on some weekdays only, so check the current hours with IB-Salut. It belongs to the Felanitx health centre, about 10 minutes away, whose urgent-care service covers weeknights from 8pm and the weekend from Friday at 3pm. The public hospital is the Hospital de Manacor, about 25 minutes by car.

Is there a school in the village?

Yes, a state primary, CEIP Migjorn, with the Sa Miloca nursery on the same site. Secondary pupils go to IES Felanitx, the state secondary school in Felanitx town.

Is there a bus?

TIB line 514, which runs between Cala d’Or, Felanitx and Porreres, stops in the village, and from Felanitx line 501 goes to Palma. Timetables change, so check them before relying on the bus, and expect to need a car for most journeys.
